Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the capture of the fortress as a major turning point in the military campaign, stating that Israeli forces would deepen and expand control over areas previously influenced by Hezbollah. The fortress holds strategic importance because it overlooks large parts of southern Lebanon and northern Israel, potentially allowing Israeli troops to advance toward Nabatieh.
Meanwhile, France intensified diplomatic efforts to contain the escalation. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting, while President Emmanuel Macron stressed that the ongoing escalation in southern Lebanon is unjustifiable and urged a permanent ceasefire and the restoration of stability.
On the ground, the Israeli army issued broad evacuation orders for residents south of the Zahrani River in preparation for additional military operations, while continuing heavy airstrikes on the city of Tyre and other southern regions. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported casualties and injuries from the strikes, as local sources described the bombardment of Tyre as the most intense since the war began. Civil defense teams were also forced to evacuate some positions after receiving threats, while several healthcare workers were injured in strikes near Hiram Hospital.

وأكد نتنياهو أن السيطرة على قلعة الشقيف تمثل “تحولاً حاسماً” في سير العمليات العسكرية، مشيراً إلى أن الجيش الإسرائيلي سيواصل توسيع نفوذه في المناطق التي كانت خاضعة لسيطرة حزب الله. وتُعد القلعة من المواقع ذات الأهمية الاستراتيجية بسبب إشرافها على مناطق واسعة من جنوب لبنان وشمال إسرائيل، ما قد يمهد لتقدم القوات الإسرائيلية نحو النبطية.
وفي المقابل، تحركت فرنسا دبلوماسياً لمحاولة احتواء الأزمة، حيث دعا وزير الخارجية الفرنسي جان-نويل بارو إلى عقد جلسة عاجلة لمجلس الأمن، بينما شدد الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون على ضرورة وقف التصعيد وعودة الاستقرار إلى جنوب لبنان.
ميدانياً، أصدر الجيش الإسرائيلي أوامر بإخلاء مناطق واسعة جنوب نهر الزهراني، بالتزامن مع شن غارات مكثفة استهدفت مدينة صور وعدداً من المناطق الجنوبية الأخرى.
وأعلنت وزارة الصحة اللبنانية سقوط قتلى وجرحى جراء القصف، فيما وصفت مصادر ميدانية الغارات على مدينة صور بأنها الأعنف منذ اندلاع الحرب. كما اضطر عناصر الدفاع المدني إلى إخلاء مواقعهم بعد تلقي تحذيرات، في حين أُصيب عدد من العاملين في القطاع الصحي إثر غارات استهدفت محيط مستشفى حيرام.
