A new round of direct military talks between Lebanon and Israel began at the headquarters of the US Department of Defense. The Lebanese delegation, led by former Ambassador Simon Karam, aims to achieve a ceasefire and ensure an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
The Pentagon's headquarters witnessed the launch of a round of direct military negotiations between the Lebanese and Israeli sides under US auspices, in a move aimed at finding solutions to the ongoing security crisis in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese delegation is led by former Ambassador Simon Karam, who was chosen by the President of the Lebanese Republic for his diplomatic experience and knowledge of the negotiation mechanisms with the Israeli side. The delegation also includes the Ambassador of Lebanon in Washington Nada Mouawad and military attaché Brigadier General Oliver Hakima. The Lebanese delegation's priorities focus on achieving an immediate ceasefire and ending destructive operations in the south, along with ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces and emphasizing the role of the Lebanese army in maintaining security stability. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam affirmed the seriousness of the Lebanese state in implementing the arms control decisions and extending its authority over the entire Lebanese territory.
