An Egyptian court ruling has affirmed a woman's right to rent hotel rooms on her own, with strict penalties for infringing hotels. The decision came after the case of a woman who was prevented from staying in a Port Said hotel and was able to obtain her legal right.
Egyptian journalist Amr Adeeb revealed during the "Story" program that a court ruling was issued confirming the right of women to rent hotel rooms individually, thus ending the wrong practices used by some hotel institutions. Fayez, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hotel Facilities Room, explained that preventing women from renting hotel rooms individually had no legal basis, stressing that some hotels were applying this prohibition in violation of Egyptian law. According to the decision New, hotels that prevent women from booking face strict penalties that include imprisoning the manager in charge as well as a fine of 50,000 Egyptian pounds.
