Amun Pharmaceutical Company is witnessing a state of unprecedented labor escalation, as about three thousand workers continue their open sit-in for the sixth day in a row, in a protest move aimed at putting pressure on the company's management to meet their legitimate demands. The protesters are demanding the departure of the CEO of the company, Dr. Mohammed Heshmat, from his position, along with fundamental demands that include increasing wages, improving living conditions, integrating workers into open direct contracts, and raising the shift allowance. The sit-in witnessed a remarkable development with the joining of new categories of employees, where for the first time employees from the departments of accounts, distribution and operations joined, after the pharmacists joined the previous day. The protesters raised banners demanding the departure of the executive, while a representative from the Ministry of Health visited the company's site to ensure that the machines stopped working. Workers complained about the deterioration of the services and privileges provided to them, as they indicated the abolition of minor privileges in exchange for the concentration of management to give senior management huge advantages. The quality of meals provided to workers also declined significantly, provoking their deep dissatisfaction. For its part, the company's management ignored communication with the protesters despite the worsening crisis, while the CEO apologized for making any statements. It is noteworthy that Dr. Mohammed Heshmat assumed his current position in September 2024 after joining the company in 2020. Amon Pharmaceuticals is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, with sales estimated at About 9.8 billion pounds according to unofficial data, which makes this sit-in a great impact on the local pharmaceutical sector.
