The Media Center of the Egyptian Council of Ministers officially announced the dates of the application of daylight saving time in the country in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2023. The system starts from the last Friday in April and runs until the last Thursday in October, with the legal hour offering 60 minutes to take advantage of the longer daylight hours.
The Media Center of the Egyptian Council of Ministers issued an official statement on Wednesday, clarifying the full details of the daylight saving time system in the Arab Republic of Egypt, based on the provisions of Law No. 24 of 2023 regulating this matter. According to the government statement, daylight saving time officially begins on the last Friday of April each year, and continues until the end of the last Thursday of October of the same year. The system in force is to provide the legal clock in Egypt by a full hour (60 minutes) during the period of daylight saving time, provided that the clock returns to its normal time immediately after the expiry of the legally specified period. The Media Center explained that this measure comes within the framework of regulating time during the summer months, with the aim of making the most of the long daylight hours that characterize this period of the year, in line with the provisions of the articles of the Regulatory Law of this issue.
